What is inosine?
Inosine is a nucleoside, one of the basic components of cells. Inosine is a precursor of adenosine, an important molecule for the production of energy, which has a number of support functions in the body.
What role does it have in the body?
Inosine enters the cardiac and muscle cell membranes and activates the synthesis of ATP (cell energy), which improves muscle contraction. It also activates the enzymes of pyruvic acid, ensuring a normal breathing process.
What does it do for athletes?
- ATP Generator: inosine stimulates the creation of ATP, which in turn promotes muscle contraction. Although it is not an essential nutrient, Inosine is especially effective for intense physical activities given that the muscle can work harder as it helps with recovery from muscle activity.
- Anti-fatigue: Inosine acts as a vasodilator, facilitating blood flow to the heart and preventing rapid fatigue. That is why it is considered a good aerobic activator as it ensures the supply of oxygen to cells.
When can inosine be taken?
